SOHMO Tailoring Shears – 8” Right Handed
SOHMO's original. Handmade in Italy. Best-selling since 2018. The shears that started it all.
When SOHMO launched in 2018, these were the first product in the range - and they remain the most loved. Handmade in Italy from nickel-plated carbon steel with 24k gold-plated handles, they've earned their place in sewing rooms, dressmaking studios, and quilting spaces across Australia and fifteen countries beyond.
The dual-blade design is what makes these shears distinctive. One micro-serrated blade gently grips fabric as it cuts, preventing slippage and keeping the cut line true - particularly valuable when working with slippery fabrics like silk, satin, or fine cotton that tend to shift. The opposing knife-edge blade delivers a clean, smooth finish. Together they produce the kind of cut that makes the difference between a good seam and a great one.
Offset handles position the lower blade closer to the cutting surface, keeping fabric flat while you cut - a detail that matters enormously when working through multiple layers, cutting on the bias, or handling long straight cuts in garment fabric. At 8" with a 100mm cutting blade, these are full-size working shears built for dressmaking, garment sewing, quilting, curtain making, and any serious fabric cutting task.
Weighty without being heavy. Sharp in a way that a well-made Italian scissors are sharp ready for years of work. With routine care, a drop of oil at the pivot screw, a wipe of the blades with the included microfibre cloth, and occasional tension adjustment; these shears are built to last a lifetime. Many SOHMO customers have had theirs since 2018 and report no diminishment in performance.
Presented in a sturdy gift box with foam insert, care instructions, and a microfibre cloth. SOHMO's most gifted product, and for good reason.
