SOHMO Entomology Pins – Pack of 100 in Tin

The finest pin on the market- 0.45mm. Originally made for scientists, adopted by sewists.

These pins were never meant for your sewing basket. Entomology pins were built for scientific specimen mounting, the precise, delicate work of pinning insects, butterflies, and botanical specimens. It turns out a pin fine enough to satisfy a lepidopterist is also exactly what sewists have been wishing for on fabrics that laugh at ordinary pins.

At 0.45mm in diameter, SOHMO Entomology Pins are noticeably finer than standard dressmaking pins (typically 0.6mm or more), and on silk, organza, chiffon, tulle, lace, fine cotton lawn, or anything sheer and loosely woven, that difference actually shows in the finished piece: no snag marks, no distorted weave, no pin-sized holes left behind to give the game away. They slip in and out of delicate fibres like they were barely there.

The resin head makes them easy to grip and easy to spot against fabric, which matters more than you'd think when you're working with fine, light-coloured material and a headless pin would vanish the second you looked away. At 38mm long, there's enough shaft to actually work with while staying lightweight and unobtrusive in the fabric.

For entomologists, natural history hobbyists, and anyone mounting insect or botanical specimens: this is the standard stainless steel entomology pin used by collectors and scientists, just packaged in a practical reusable tin. Sewing room or specimen board, they're equally at home in both.
