Traditional thimbles work, technically. They're also hot, clunky, and have a habit of falling off, usually mid-stitch. SOHMO Adhesive Finger Protectors are the stick-on thimble alternative: small heart-shaped thimble pads that stick directly to your fingertip with a strong 3M adhesive backing and stay put for the whole sewing session.
No thimble to hunt for down the side of the couch. No sweaty finger. No bulk between your fingertip and the needle. Just a thin layer of protection exactly where you need it, and nowhere else.
The heart shape is doing more work than you'd think. It's cute, sure, but it's also functional. The two lobes flex naturally when applied to the side of a finger, conforming to the curve instead of bunching up. And that downward point at the bottom is perfectly placed for getting a fingernail underneath when you want to peel the pad off cleanly at the end of a session.
These thimble pads are particularly well-suited to sashiko, where the repetitive push-through action of a thick thread and long needle puts real pressure on the fingertip over a long stretch of stitching. They're just as handy for English paper piecing, hand quilting, embroidery, and any hand sewing technique built around sustained needle-pushing.
Each pad is die-cut and ready to use. Peel from the backing sheet and apply to a clean, dry finger. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Packaged in the same compact sliding-lid tin as the SOHMO Needles range, small enough for a project bag, sewing kit, or the corner of a workroom shelf.
