Sustainability at SOHMO
At SOHMO, we acknowledge that our activities have a potential impact on the environment, and therefore, we have a duty to ensure we implement sustainable practices, and adopt a strategy that is both responsible and ethical.
This is an ever-evolving goal for us and, while we acknowledge we are not perfect, we want to make a real difference and contribute proactively to the welfare of our planet.
We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment by working hard to ensure our business incorporates the principles of sustainability as well as social and environmental responsibility.
Our products
We're not about fast-fashion here, so the tools and scissors we choose to make and bring to market are of a high quality and made to last a lifetime.
Each pair of scissors comes with an information card with details of how to care for the scissors to make sure they're with you for the long haul.
Our products are packaged as minimally as possible - with a simple sticker to close our tins of pins, and only a protective storage box accompanies our scissors.
Our pin tins are intended to be used over and over again - either for storing the pins within them, or for other items. Once the tin has come to the end of it's life, it can be recycled via a curb-side recycling bin.
Our scissors boxes are also intended to be used for the life of the product. If you no longer wish to use the storage box, remove the foam insert and place the card box in a curb-side recycling bin. The foam should be repurposed or disposed of in a general waste bin.
Our packaging
Acting with a positive environmental impact in mind, we have ensured that all of our packaging paper, outer cartons and enclosed care cards are fully recyclable.
We use newsprint paper to protect items, paper tape to secure our parcels, and reuse cartons when available.
We know that there is more to be done and continue to work hard to ensure our packaging is sustainable.
Our deliveries are sent within Australia via Australia Post's carbon-neutral service. You can read more about the comprehensive program of carbon offsets, and environmentally responsible projects here.
